This is my basic vanilla sock recipe with a twist! It is perfect for self-striping sock yarns and adds a bit of fun to a finished pair of striped socks. It includes instructions for a 2x2 ribbing on the cuff, a German short row heel, and a wedge toe. Feel free to substitute your favorite cuff, heel, and toe if you’d like!

The pattern is written for 9” circulars, however, it can be easily modified if you choose to use double-pointed needles or the magic loop method.

Note that the number of rounds on the cuff, leg, and foot are entirely personal preference and should be adjusted to your fit and liking.

Size Information:
Small (medium, large)
8-9” (9-10”, 10-11”)
Based on foot circumference, measurement taken around the ball of the foot.

Skill Level: Beginner

Gauge: Gauge is personal preference and does not need to be exact. It is listed just for reference.

Base Information

All of our current base information can be viewed on the Bases page. Because our bases come and go, this will be the best place to find current, correct information.

Care Instructions

It is recommended to hand wash and lay flat to dry, but the fiber is machine-wash and dry-able.

Each skein is thoroughly rinsed, but be aware that some additional bleeding may occur for the first few washes. You can include a color-catcher or a bit of white vinegar as added protection.

Additional Information

Small batch hand-dyed yarn is unique in that no two skeins are identical. If you are working on a project with multiple skeins, we highly recommend alternating them to prevent pooling and to blend them together.

Each listing price is for one skein of yarn, unless otherwise stated in the description.
